Discord has an energy. It is negative, it hurts, and it is magnetic. There is a powerful pull when we are in an argument to maintain engagement with the other, even if we have had this argument 1,000 times before and we know it never gets us anywhere we want to be. Love has a completely different energy. It is soft, it is tender, it opens our heart and it softens the heart of the other, but it takes time.
So don’t expect to connect with love and right away good things will happen. Or that you can pretend to be loving and good things will happen. It has to be real love and you know when it is — you feel it flow. It is a connection with the heart of what drew you to your partner in the first place. Yes, good things may not happen right away, but if you can keep connected to that love as best you can, you can trust that they will. For love is never wasted — no matter how it looks — and love always wins. Because it is real. It is what is underneath. It is what drew us to our beloved in the first place and them to us. Love is what is strongest.
So next time you find yourself in the midst of an argument with your beloved (who, at that moment, may feel more like your enemy) ask yourself this: Is love the most important thing? And if the answer is yes — Stop. Breathe. Put your hand on your heart and reconnect with your love. It is magic. And it will change the dance.
With All Love,
